Syria Visa on Arrival

The Syrian Transitional Government has eliminated visa requirements for most visitors, requiring only a passport for entry. However, there are exceptions: Israeli citizens are prohibited from entering or transiting through Syria, Iranian citizens must secure prior authorization, same for Russia and Iraq passport holders, and Lebanese citizens without a valid residence permit in another country or a Syrian family member must obtain a prior visa.

you need to pay a visa fee whatever you arrive to Syria by lands borders or Airports.
The new authorities do stamp your passport directly, you can ask them instead to stamp a peace of paper.

Syria Visa for Journalists

For journalists, the process is slightly different. They must submit a prior request, including their personal details and information about their fixer, by filling out a designated form. A response is typically provided within two to three days. Journalists receive a visa upon arrival at the Syrian border based on their submitted request. They then visit the Ministry of Information to obtain a special filming permit, ensuring a smooth and flexible process.
