Many international airlines are resuming operations in Syria, marking a significant step toward reconnecting the country with the global aviation network.
Turkish Airlines has announced the resumption of its flights to Damascus International Airport, starting January 23. Specifically, the airline will operate three flights per week, reconnecting Damascus with global travel routes، Turkish Airlines has announced that, at the request of the new Syrian administration, it will not transport Iranian or Israeli citizens to Damascus.
Additionally, Royal Jordanian Airlines has announced that it will begin operating flights to Damascus International Airport four times a week starting January 31. Flights will be scheduled on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Also, Qatar Airways has announced the resumption of flights to Syria starting January 7, launching three weekly flights to Damascus after a 13-year hiatus. In a statement, the airline emphasized its commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and addressing the growing demand from passengers. Qatar Airways also assured that it is working closely with relevant authorities to ensure all flights to Syria meet stringent safety, security, and operational standards.
Since 2019, Syria has emerged as a destination for adventure tourism and for travelers seeking a deeper understanding of conflict and its impact. This trend is expected to continue for at least the next five years, as the country faces significant challenges in rebuilding its infrastructure and achieving political stability—both essential for large-scale reconstruction efforts, Following the fall of the Assad regime, a significant number of journalists and media professionals traveled to Syria to document this historic moment, while many Syrians living abroad returned to celebrate the country’s new chapter. With the security situation steadily improving and interprovincial roads being secured, Syria is on the path to revival. Consequently, tourist trips to the country are starting, with plans already underway for the upcoming spring season.

We had a tight schedule so we asked to see as much as possible, which she happily obliged to. She has a very interesting background, knowing every last bit of the city, its culture, history and food!
