Syria Higher education

Syria has a variety of universities that offer all kinds of specializations. For sure, the student has to hold a General Secondary Education Certificate to have access to university programs.
We're going to talk more about college education in the following article.

The college education system in Syria:

The Ministry of Higher Education is in charge of higher education, so it offers higher education at universities, higher institutes and medium institutes. Education at most Syrian public universities is free. Uniquely, all public higher education institutions' medium of instruction is Arabic, which isn't the case for universities in other Arab countries. So that's one of many reasons why Arabian students seek college education in Syrian universities. However, some Syrian private universities offer education in English.

There are 2 types of undergraduate degrees: Bachelor’s degrees (offered at public and private universities), and Intermediate Certificates (offered at medium institutes). Bachelor's degree programs are usually 4 years in duration. With the exceptions of engineering, architecture, veterinary medicine, dentistry and pharmacy fields are 5-year programs. And of course, general medicine programs require 6 years to complete. The academic year at universities in Syria is 30 weeks divided into 2 semesters. As for the private universities, unlike public universities, there's a difference in the system, such as the summer semester, which gives the student more time to complete a year's resolution and that isn't available in public universities.
