While you are walking in the old city of Damascus and enjoying the ancient buildings you can hear a noise coming from a door and one of the streets then you get closer and closer, and you find yourself in a very cool Syrian cafe!
You will see the cafe full of young people and energy and you will find everyone smoking shisha (waterpipe, the heated tobacco product or the device used to smoke it), drinking beer, or tea, and enjoying each other’s stories.They offer an atmosphere that is warm and inviting, it’s the young generation of Syria, this hidden Syrian cafe opened after the war and they had a lot of success, because of their strategy which depends on having a lot of people, good vibes, and affordable prices.
There are plenty of beautiful outdoor and indoor cafes hidden away in Damascus since it has a lot of people living there, and there are traditional ones like a Nofara and modern cafes, like in the modern sight of the city, and also some cool cafes like people mostly like to hang out in the old city to enjoy the atmosphere. the cafe is usually a space for students and workers alike, a place to chat, socialize, and beyond. Coffee culture now goes beyond a simple coffee stop and will continue to evolve to integrate new purposes to fulfill.

Josh 2024-06-23 Lulu was our tour guide in Damascus in October 2022 and she was the best guide we could‘ve hopefully for! We had a tight schedule so we asked to see as much as possible, which she happily obliged to. She has a very interesting background, knowing every last bit of the city, its culture, history and food!
