Damascus International Airport reopened to air traffic on Wednesday, April 08th, marking a significant step toward restoring regional connectivity following a ceasefire recently reached between the United States and Iran.
Syrian authorities announced the resumption of operations at the country’s main gateway, allowing both domestic and international flights to resume after a period of disruption linked to escalating tensions across the Middle East. The reopening comes amid broader signs of stabilization in regional air travel, as several countries begin restoring aviation activity following the halt in hostilities.
The ceasefire, following days of heightened military escalation, has led to cautious optimism across the region, particularly in the aviation and travel sectors, which were heavily affected by airspace closures and flight suspensions. Similar measures have been observed elsewhere, with airspace reopening gradually after conflict-related shutdowns.
Officials described the airport’s reopening as an important move toward normalcy, though they emphasized that operations will continue to be closely monitored in light of the fragile security situation.

You going there gives people hope for a better future. Visa costs depend on nationality. As a US citizen my Visa was pretty costly 220$. It was WORTH IT!
