After years of stopping… Algeria announces the resumption of its flights with Syria

Algeria announces the resumption of flights to Syria and Lebanon after a hiatus that lasted for several years.

Flights started from December 21, 2023, towards Beirut and Damascus, at a rate of one flight per week.

Flights between Algeria and Syria stopped about 12 years ago, and between Algeria and Lebanon due to the “Corona” pandemic in 2020.
in fact, In May 2017, the Algerian ambassador to Damascus pledged to operate his country’s airline flights to Syria.

The Syrian Ministry of Transport appreciated this step and additionally, “looks forward to providing all the necessary facilities and procedures to serve these flights and providing everything that contributes to the continuity of operation, and even seeking to increase it in the future.”

Also, Algerian Airlines to Syria were halted after the military escalation in the vicinity of the capital, Damascus, the difficulty of landing planes at Damascus International Airport, and the suspension of Aleppo International Airport, despite the continuation of diplomatic relations between Syria and Algeria.
