What about a Syria visa for China? and what are the procedures for the Chinese?

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad made an official visit to China on September 21 (2023), in response to the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend the opening of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou on September 22 and 23.
The Syrian President’s last visit to China was in 2004 when he met with former Chinese President Hu Jintao.
The Syrian official news agency, SANA, reported that Al-Assad’s visit to Hangzhou included the signing of three cooperation documents, including a memorandum of understanding related to cooperation within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative, as Syria joined the initiative in January last year.

Observers believe that such a step may pave the way for Beijing to implement vital projects in Syria, especially since it has an important regional strategic location, as it is located between Iraq and Turkey.

Al-Assad’s visit also came at a time when Beijing is playing a growing role in the Middle East and is trying to promote its “New Silk Roads” plan, officially known as the “Belt and Road Initiative”, which is a huge project of investments and loans that provides for the establishment of infrastructure linking China to its traditional markets in Asia, Europe, and Africa.

Facilitating Syrian visa procedures for Chinese

It has become possible for holders of a Chinese passport to travel to Syria without booking a tourism package with a local Syrian travel agency, to strengthen economic relations and increase the number of Chinese tourists in Syria. It was noted after taking this measure that the number of Chinese tourists in Syria has doubled by 1,200%.
