Syria Travel Update after the fall of the Assad Regime

Table of content

As you have seen and witnessed on various media outlets, the regime of dictator Bashar al-Assad has fallen after the Syrians suffered for nearly 14 years. The dictator fled to Russia and the Syrian opposition forces took control of the capital Damascus and various areas that were under his control.

Latest travel news to Syria during the current situation

Syria now looks attractive to journalists looking to provide news from inside Syria, but for travelers for tourism purposes, the matter seems very different. The process of reorganizing the country needs time. The immigration and passport building in Damascus was burned and is out of service. The Jordanian border allows Syrian citizens returning to their country to cross. The same applies to the border crossings with Turkey.
in Lebanon Things seem a little different, as the Jdeideh Yabous\almasnaa border crossing is operating normally, The Syrian side does not have any soldiers from the General Security, and no one stamps the passport or checks the visa, there is a state of severe congestion at this crossing, and it may take 10 hours to reach Damascus, where there are tens of thousands of arrivals from different Syrian cities to celebrate the victory of the Syrian revolution.
The police forces have begun to spread to other places and control the security situation.
Still, it needs more time to organize things and return life to normal, as the interim government has taken over the reins of affairs for three months and has a long list of important tasks that must be followed up on. We expect that tourism in Syria will need at least a month to know how the situation will be.

    Syrians celebrate freedom

Some thoughts about the future of Syria

It seems that the Syrian people are facing a great challenge now. Those people have suffered from the scourges of war, destruction, and displacement for nearly 14 years and have become aware of the plans that aim to divide Syria. Now the opportunity seems available to build a civil, democratic state that accommodates all components of the Syrian people, In the opinion of many Syrians, there is nothing worse than the Assad regime. During his rule, Syrians were dying slowly, and in silence. Any new opportunity for them is better than the woes of the Assad regime.

    Damascus the capital of Syria

Fortunately, things now seem stable, and most Syrians are safe and happy with their freedom.
Finally, we hope for the best for our country and strive for a bright future and a democratic country that enjoys peace.
